So many lands, farms, fields of fruits and vegetables are gone because of the drought. All this happened because of a shortage of water from once green and healthy crops to dead dry brittle crops that are abandoned by a drought. For example, we had to cut back on watering my lawn and it went from a green lawn to a dead lawn, because of cut backs. Mat Wiser said that, “ Water will become one of the defining limits to human development and a compound factor in human misery,”(2009 Wiser). If we don’t have water we will die faster without water than food, we can’t be greedy on something that we thrive and survive
I agree with David Sedlak’s message, “4 Ways we can Avoid a Catastrophic Drought,” because it was not only what he said but also the way he presented it. He used things like examples and graphs during his presentation. The four ways that he came up with were so well thought out that it would be hard to not understand what he wanted to do. Now I am not really sure if his plans will work but the facts that were presented by him were so full proof to me that it kind of takes the thought of “if it will work” away. The only thing that I did not hear him talk about was the way he was going to carry out the plans he had; I am not sure if I just did not hear it or read it
Summer Heights High is a mockumentary show, directed by Chris Lilly. It was filmed in a Brighton Secondary College in Australia, aired on Australia’s ABC TV in September 2007. It’s played by three main characters over the course of a term: Jonah, Jamie and Mr. G. These characters are stereotyped to create funny content of themselves to encourage people not to behave that way. It labels the inappropriate content of words, used by a number of swearing and bullying that was nevertheless to make fun their behavior.
The way in which Australian comedy is regarded, understood, or interpreted can dramatically affect the overall consensus of what it may imply. Australian comedy walks the line of this, you either love it, or you hate it. This is evident in the public’s overall positive responses to Chris Lilley’s mini mockumentary series, “Summer Heights High” & “Jonah from Tonga” which portrays Australian comedy as to have the ability to find humour in each other’s flaws, often more shocking and confronting than initially expected. Resulting in a fan base that can relate themselves to characters such as “Jonah Takaluwa” and possibly find comfort and closure, Chris Lilly stated in an interview with The Daily Telegraph “I’ve never had any negative feedback”,” I have all the time come up and claim that they’re Jonah”, “It’s all in context and it’s designed to be shocking and confronting/”
People need to start putting their foot down and help make other people who are not aware of the situation more aware. Without water we will lose essential needs that we need to survive such as food and energy. Due to the climate changes and warmer weather, people need to become more aware of how serious the water scarcity is. As listed above there are many ways that people are trying to prevent the drought from continuing but the people who are using the methods to prevent are the people being affected by it now. All states need to take part in this prevention before the drought gets more out of control and it potentially taking all of the water resources.
We typically do not give much thought to what we call “home”. We perceive home as somewhere we go after a long day, somewhere we can enjoy the simpler pleasures in life away from the restlessness of work. However in The Droughtlanders by Carrie Mac, it challenges our general notion of home for an unorthodox one—a notion that a home goes outside of comfort zones, rather than inside them. At face value, the Keys have everything: it is rich, secure, and organized. But by glimpsing outside its walls, we discover that those qualities can bring more problems than we see at first glance.
A drought is an occurrence where there is very little rainfall, which results in a shortage of water. Drought can last up to ten years in certain places, especially desert areas. Droughts are extremely difficult to predict, and produce cracked land. They are very dangerous in places with little food and little water. Droughts can also affect farmers, due to it being so hot that their plants die.
Have you ever ask yourself why it feels like summers are getting a little hotter every year, and or why winter doesn’t feel as cold as the previous year, like it’s getting a little warmer and warmer every year? Have you ever questioned how we are impacting the planet or how we can even sustain a comfortable life with the planet increasingly heating up? One can make the general assumption that it doesn’t snow in the valley and freezing conditions only happen on occasion, depending on the year. Is this god not wanting us to have a white winter or could it be something else? Global Warming and climate change are significant issues that we are currently dealing with and something that the future generations of the world will have to deal with
Global Worming We had achieved a lot in the last couple hundreds of years and in deferent fields like medical, transport, education, technological, astronomy, and in energy. With the growing population, and agriculture.
The drought in California is damaging the state 's water supply, thus causing conflict between states, regions, urban residents, and farmers, etc. In the "The West 's Tragedy of the Commons," a man named John Wesley Powell says the following, "A trip through the drought area, supplementing data already on record, makes it evident that we are not confronted merely with a short term problem relief, already being dealt with by several agencies of the Federal Government, but with a long terms problem of readjustment and effective use of all the water available is called for. Intelligent adjustment to the ways of Nature must take the place of attempts to "conquer" her." This statements explains that the government and the citizens have to adjust their usage of water due to the
The drought and lack of clean water are effects due to the unspeakable Hurricane Maria, the one who took your lives away. Your people are dying due to the bacteria (such as leptospirosis) that they are ingesting, and nothing is being done. Yet still, you shall never give up your hope. Do not hate
Groundwater pumping by farmers should be regulated by the state of California. If civilians in the state are being required to cut water usage back by twenty-five percent (Dimick, 2015), then the farmers should have to as well. The drought is a serious issue for California and a large portion of the Western part of the United States. That whole region of the country should be doing as much as they can to preserve their water resources until the drought (hopefully) ends. Otherwise, this could turn into a major issue for the entire country, not just that state.
