Finding the Fun
(A Satiric Essay of High School Parking Lots) High school is an interesting thing for most people. Some are dying to get out while others don’t want it to end. High school students use satire each day even if they are unaware of it. To say one thing but mean something opposite is the definition of satire. There are two types of satire; juvenalian satire is when someone is made fun of but they don’t find it amusing, when the satire is biting mean, and horatian satire is when the victum finds it funny as well, so more playful. A few famous writers have perfected the art of writing with satire, Alexander Pope and Jonathan Swift are two great examples. High School parking lots are the best parking lots in each town. First of all, high school parking lots have the smallest parking spaces which makes it so easy for each student to part properly. They are able to maneuver any vehicles, especially large trucks, into these spaces easily. It’s even better if the spaces are drawn straight rather than slanted, it makes it easier to park, especially for high school students who are fairly new drivers. There are many reasons for this, one being the small spaces allotted to park in. It’s a lot more fun when the spaces are painted straight instead of slanted. The parking blocks were installed for pure enjoyment. The students have figured out how to drive over them and they realized how fun it is. It is much easier to just drive through the two spaces rather than driving around the row. Not to mention the vast decorations that are included, colorful pieces of trash, large mud blobs and an occasional thick blanket of snow which would soon become a great patch work of ice.
