Charlotte swung opened the front door, and grabbed her bookbag and flew out of the door on the way to school. The plains were empty, and the sweet smell of Fall was in the air. As she walked and admired the plains, she walked past the old barn. The wind blew within Charlotte’s hair as she stared at the old barn. Charlotte passed the barn, and could see the schoolhouse in the distance. But, as Charlotte continued walking, she heard faint crying and wailing coming from the barn. Shocked, Charlotte turned around to see no one behind her. She assumed her mind was playing tricks on her, so, she continued to walk. Once again, she heard faint wailing. She began walking, and smelled the Fall air. The breeze blew all around her. Charlotte was gazing around, and in the distance was the barn. She looked at it, and began walking a little faster. She realized there was no wailing sounds. So she continued on. She could see her house, and she began to walk closer to it. The door swung open and Charlotte set her bag down and walked into her room. She plopped down onto her bed and stared at the ceiling. A few minutes later, Charlotte heard a loud thump near her window. She peered out of the window, looking up and down. She didn’t see anything. So, she sat down on her bed and started her homework. Thump. “Again?” Charlotte said as she walked to her window to see what it was. Nothing. It was still and quiet. She sat back down and did homework. She heard three, heavy knocks at her door. She put down her pencil and said, “ Hello?” No answer. Charlotte rolled her eyes and opened the door and nobody was there. “William!” she shouted from across the house, “Quit knocking on my door!” Her mother looked at her puzzled, and said, “ William is at soccer practice at the
