Hi, my name is Erin Elizabeth Crawford. I am a student at Marshall County High School (MCHS). I am going to tell you what happened on January 23, 2018, at 7:57 a.m. central time.

Each time there is a school shooting, it breaks my heart. An each time there is a school shooting, I pray that it is the last school shooting, but it is not. There is always going to be another school shooting. That is not the part that breaks my heart, the part that breaks heart is watching others students go through the same things that I went and am still going through. Sophomore student Gabe Parker, someone who I thought was my friend, brought a handgun to my high school on January 23, 2018, and at 7:57 a.m. central time, opened fire on my classmates, killing 2, injuring 19 others. That is not the worst part. The worst part is the fact that even tho people (parents and teachers) try to make us (students) feel safe, some of us will never feel safe again, not at school, at work, at the store, when we are out with our parents, even at home. There is no place that we feel truly safe. I don’t feel safe anymore. We lost our sense of safety on January 23, 2018. An for some of us, that means we will be the same. When we walked into our high school on January 26, 2018, we walked into a different high school. We all lost a piece of us January 23, 2018. He stole a piece of us on January 23, 2018.
