Some do not care what they wear and just want to go to school. Others think that it is the worst idea ever. Since everyone wants to stand out, be different, and not having to be restricted of what clothes they can wear is why students should not have to wear uniforms. Students not being required to wear uniforms would eliminate students from having body insecurities. Students having to wear uniforms makes everything more of a competition.
This is one of those debates that happens over and over again. My judgement on school uniforms is a yes and a no. It would stop bullying over clothing but it basically tells the kids that they can’t express themselves at school. School uniforms would stop distractions but the children would feel like they can’t show their differences in clothing like some kids like colorful stuff and some have traditional clothing and some like certain things that they like to dress in. School uniforms are not a bad idea but the flaw is how the uniforms affect the students minds.
For example, when the Long Beach Unified School District made students K-8 wear uniforms, suspensions in elementary dropped by 28%, suspensions in middle school dropped by 36%, there was a 51% decrease in fights with students K-8, and a 34% drop in assault and battery in kids K-8. This shows that the crime in the Long Beach Unified School District decreased after uniforms were implemented in grades K-8. It also prevents gangs from forming on campus and a display of gang colors. Also it helps identify intruders in school because everyone will be wearing a uniform, so the intruder will stand out and it will help keep the school safe. The last reason that it stops most crime is, it may discourage students from committing a crime which will also help keep the school and students safer.
I am strongly in favor of the proposition that public schools should require students to wear uniforms. In today's world, we are subjected to many prejudices, some of which stem from kinds of clothes we wear. If all students wore uniforms, at least one source of prejudice might be eliminated in schools because no one would be wearing expensive designer clothes while others wore second hand clothes that went out of style a decade ago. No one would be able to discern your economic status by the clothes you wore. Another reason I favor required uniforms for public school students is to increase students' safety at school.
School uniforms could eliminate all competitions, or even the feeling of low self-esteem stemming from the perception that some are more or less inadequate than others. School uniforms could even terminate the hierarchy that over runs schools all together. Though it may seem school uniforms fix problems and are generally regarded as a “good thing”, not all share in the enthusiasm. Uniforms should not be established into schools for many different reasons, for example, uniforms restrict student’s freedom of expression. Besides school uniforms promote conformity over individuality. Uniforms may have a detrimental effect on student’s self-image. Another thing is that school uniforms may delay the transition into adulthood. This is my opinion, but I’m not sure that many people agree with me.
Envision waking up every morning to put on the same outfit and walk out the door, stress free. People would not have to worry about what fits, or what is fashionable at the time. Schools would not have to worry about inappropriate clothing but at the same time, that clothing may be a way for a student to express himself. Many schools view uniforms as a solution to several problems, but many schools view uniforms as a lack of self expression. School uniforms should continue, even though children may not get to express themselves, because they prohibit violence, provide cheaper lifestyles, and promote better education.

What this means is having school uniforms can lower bullying. While there is some truth to this argument, it is wrong because only teachers think of this and not parents who are the ones who have to pay for uniforms.
Imagine you are sitting in a classroom filled with polite and poised children dressed all the same in their school uniforms. You feel peaceful and chaos free. School uniforms are required in a lot of public schools throughout all of america, but some aren't. This issue is affecting plenty of citizens throughout the united states. School uniforms should be required in all public schools across the united states because, school uniforms reduce the amount of distraction in the classroom, school uniforms create a positive, no violence culture and climate on campus, and lastly school uniforms end the competition between the rich and poor, weather it being about who has the nicest or most new up to date clothes.
In conclusion, school uniforms are a great thing to have in schools. Even though there is that argument on whether school uniforms will violate the right of self-expression to students it will continue either way. At the end of the day students should see that there are more positive effects with uniforms rather than negative ones. It should be taking in consideration that the clothes a student wears will not determine the ability of learning, but why not pick school uniforms that can help stop current school

By having students dress in uniforms, schools create a new normal that is more equal for all students. Unfortunately, not everywhere as made this change.
