My reflection paper will reflect on the steps I completed to conduct my 2017-2018 science fair project. To begin, I came up with my project idea by first looking at the examples provided from the science fair manual, then I narrowed down to three ideas I really liked. Once I had those three ideas I believed I could work with, the only difficulty I had was choosing which one seemed to be the most interesting and had the most research.
I eventually decided on an experiment that tested which colored candle would burn the fastest if a group of multicolored candles was all burnt at the exact same time. The hypothesis for my experiment was if colored and white candles were being burned at the same time, then the white candle would burn fastest because there are fewer chemicals in it. Gathering background information helped me in the process of creating a research plan.

The resources provided really helped me make sense of my topic and help me understand how to do each aspect of the experiment step by step. Although I know my teacher is not responsible for anything science fair related, it would have been helpful if through the writing process she could show me exactly how she would want my reflection paper to be.
Personally, I prefer to work alone on most projects because then I can make sure everything goes as planned exactly as I want it to. A con of working individually, however, is that when the experiment gets difficult there is no one I can rely on to help me problem solve, I had to figure everything out myself. I decided not to go to science fair because I felt even though my project was good, I wasn’t sure if it could compete with the other projects. This project was not difficult at all for me it was quite tedious at times
