Long ago, back into the time of ancient Greek, was a young 20 year old British Macedonian king called Alexander. He was a very brave, dauntless, and generous man to his followers. He had conquered a vast of land and made it his empire. He had found 70 cities and named most of them Alexandria. He spread Greek ideas and culture to the world.
At first glance, “The Changeling” written by Judith Ortiz Cofer and the fantasy movie “The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe” directed by Andrew Adamson and based on the chronological novel, “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe” by C.S. Lewis seemed to be comparable in the unique ways that would surprise the audiences. The main similarity between the movie and the poetry struck me instantly when I read the poem. The fact that both works depict a little girl that act strong, imaginative, and playful, but upon further inspection, the fantasy element both possesses are similar as well. Poetry is an important part of literature which conveys an author 's ideas across to the reader through the use of descriptive language. Poetry helps an author to express their inner emotions and often incorporates various poetic devices which enriches the text. Poetry gives the reader a different perspective and when read closely, can give the audience a look into the authors imagination. Likewise, poetic devices enhance the writing and can drastically change the mood of the poem, as well as, how the reader interprets the poem. Poetic devices are important in literature because they help to convey a message, add spontaneity to a poem, and give the reader a strong visual.
This art exhibition will be featuring the works of Stan Apps and Kit Frick. Both of the artworks are poetry. The common theme found in them is that each of the books are instructional and can be used as a kind of handbook.
