The Scottsboro case went a little like this, nine black boys were charged rape against two white women. They were brought to trial in Scottsboro, Alabama in April 1931 after they had already been in jail for three weeks. “ Despite the testimony by doctors who examined the girls and said there was no sign of rape, the men were charged with rape and sentenced to death except for the youngest of twelve years old. ” As stated in Scottsboro case law article. The scenticting of death was lifted but after all of them had already spent 6 years in jail. Later on the state of Alabama tried to re-convict the men in 1935 but the court had overturned it because people had protested that the court had systematically excluded black people from the jury. This was the time of women being at home, cooking, cleaning and being an at home mom. They were not treated fairly in the workplace either. But if a woman accused a man of anything, they would always get their way. Example Scottsbrocase. A young white person could do a lot back then, whites would get a good education in a school of all other white kids. They got electricity, more property and grew up with their mom at home and dad always at work. A black boy would get no electricity, had to go to different hospitals, different school, church, drink out of a different water fountain, get less land, had their dad working longer, harder and more. Most of them grew up on a plantation in shotgun house. Living conditions were not very good for a young black boy. All though you may think two different colors of young boys would be treated completely different, They did go to different places but mostly got the same education, taught the same by the church they went to and was treated the same way by their
