Change is the king that rules the Empire of humanity. In the play Scrooge And Marley by Israel Horovitz, Ebenezer Scrooge is a dynamic character that, after a chance of redemption, changes from a parasite of the world to a benefactor of it.
In act 1, Scrooge exhibits his ruthless and rude attitude towards all around him. A quote by Scrooge and act 1 scene 2 Says: “A poor excuse for picking a man's pocket every 25th of December! but I suppose you must have the whole day. Be here all the earlier the next morning!” This quote goes to show how ruthless and cruel Scrooge's to those who inconvenience him. Along with this, another quote from the same place says: “ Merry Christmas? What right do you have to be merry? What reason do you have to be merry? you're poor enough!” This shows how rude Scrooge is to those he finds below him. All in all, with the quotes provided one can see how horrible Scrooge treats those around him.

A quote from act 2 scene 5 Has Scrooge explaining to his sole employee, Bob Cratchit: “I'm not going to stand this sort of thing any longer. and therefore…I…am about to...raise...your salary.” This quote sees Scrooge go from threatening to fire his employee at the beginning of the play to giving him a well-earned raise that was long-due. Moreover, a similar stage direction from the same scene says: “Scrooge now comes to the room of his Nephew and Niece. He stops at the door, begins to knock on it, loses his courage, tries again, loses his courage again, tries again, fails again…” this captures Scrooge's remorse for his harsh and rather cold-hearted conversation with his beloved nephew, prior to his paranormal eve.
