In the second stave of the book Scrooge was feeling regret of what he did in the past. Evidence of regret is on pages 50-51. They are saying, “I not know your repentance and regret would surely follow? I do; and I release you. With a full heart, for the love of him you once were.”

When Scrooge goes to the Cratchit’s house he starts to feel bad because Tiny Tim is about to die and the ghost reminded him of what he said about people like Tiny Tim. When Scrooge and the ghost went to his nephew Fred’s, he sees them having fun, so Scrooge joined in and wanted to stay longer. They went to the lighthouse and Scrooge saw that everyone had Christmas spirit despite what their situation was. When the ghost was about to die, he showed Scrooge ignorance and want. Scrooge realized he was just like them and needed to change.
During the time in your life, how many times have you thought about the place Heaven or Hell? Maybe you sit and wonder about how these places may look or how the people in these places might look like. Most individuals will imagine the people in Heaven as beautiful angels and picture Heaven as an overly bright place filled with an excessive amount of sunshine, happiness, and peace. These individuals did not commit any bad acts in their lifetime. People usually imagine the individuals in Hell as scary devils and the setting of Hell looks dark and sketchy.
We come to learn that Scrooge changes with his attitude. One quote from the text that accurately confirms this is…“No warmth could warm, no wintry weather could chill him. ”(page 3). This excerpt from the text explains how troubled and insecure he is inside, using a metaphorical perspective. We, as the readers, can draw inferences and conclusions on how loathsome he seems.

Christmas is his least favorite holiday because his friend Jacob Marley passed away on christmas. He is also alone live by himself in a big house Jacob Marley arrives in the story as a ghost asking Scrooge who he was. Marley is telling Scrooge that if he does not change his life that he is going to be in chains and have boxes chained to him when he dies if he keeps being rude and not nice. Marley warns Scrooge about the three ghost Past. Present and Future.
By looking back on his past makes Scrooge realize why he truly hates Christmas time. It is because his lover, Belle, left him for money. This ironically parallels Scrooge’s future with love ones. He pushes others away and even holds back money from his own family. The Ghost of Christmas Present just makes Scrooge worse, by showing that his actions are slowly killing Bob Cratchit and the rest of his family.

The events that changed Scrooge from a disrespectful man to a jubilant person include, his break up with his fiancé, Tiny Tim’s death, and the passing of Fan. A quote from the text that supports this claim is, “Don’t say that spirit, remove me from this place; remove me, I cannot bear it.”
Scrooge in "The Christmas Carol" shows how much he hates Christmas, and everyone he works with to change to a happy person with the help of others. Scrooge emphasizes, "What a fine day fellow... An Intelligent boy, a remarkable boy. " This is a critical part of this novel because this shows Scrooge overcame his dislike of Christmas and his entire disliking of people. Instead of rudely gesturing to people, he is now starting to act nicer, and more mature.
The chains that Jacob Marley and the other ghosts wear are important to the story, A Christmas Carol because Marley tells Scrooge that he has to carry chains in his afterlife. But Scrooge doesn't believe he is real. So, Marley sends three ghosts to make him believe in Christmas and to stop being a cranky guy during the rest of his life. Marley's chain is around him during his afterlife because he was a greedy man during his life. Marley was greedy because he didn’t want to give money, food, shelter, and way more the poor and homeless even though they need it.
Scrooge’s Transformation Essay In the Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens, the main character, Ebenezer Scrooge is visited by three spirits, past, present, and future. When the spirits take Scrooge to the past present and future, Scrooge undergoes a major transformation Dickens demonstrates this by showing that Scrooge changed from a lonely, greedy man, that didn’t like Christmas and dislike people to a generous man that likes Christmas and was more accepting of other people. Dickens shows this change through Scrooge’s actions while traveling through time with the spirits.
Now that Scrooge has seen the future and the consequences of his life. Scrooge realizes that only kindness and goodness will pay off at the end of the road. Scrooge doesn’t completely change until this moment where he is shown how important it is to keep the Christmas Spirit in your heart. The Ghost of Christmas Future shows
He shows Scrooge what terrible conditions his employee, Cratchit, is living in, and how his family and he are struggling to make ends meet for the holiday season. He also shows him a homeless community that Scrooge didn't even know existed because he forgot that not everybody can be as wealthy as he is. This scene was cut from the play probably due to its lack of significance to the main plotline of the original story. The film depicts Future leading Scrooge to his grave, where men are digging up his never-shared fortunes for themselves, while the play only tells of the men digging the grave to bury him.
Events from the past can influence people to change their life for the better. Influence from anyone and anything can definitely affect you. Chances are, if you have done atrocious things, you probably want to try and do some good. This the case for the main characters in the stories “A Christmas Carol” by Charles Dickens and “A Retrieved Reformation” by O’ Harey. Ebenezer Scrooge is a greedy, grumpy man who hates Christmas and really anything that involves joy.
