WOOSTER — Sean Morrow has a pretty straightforward job for HER Realtors: Open community offices and explore mergers and acquisitions. However, it is not always simple, just ask Joe Mast and Andy White. Mast and White owned Real Estate Showcase, and Morrow really wanted to bring the agency, especially its auction services, into the HER Realtors fold. But, about the third time Morrow spoke with Mast’s father, John Mast said they should give him the time of day, Mast said. “That’s when John became my favorite person,” Morrow said. “The culture and business philosophy (of both companies) are very similar.” John Mast served as a gatekeeper throughout the years, but as discussions progressed, Mast and White continued to throw up roadblocks as to why the deal would not work. This went on for about a year-and-a-half. In the end, “It seemed to make sense,” White said. HER Realtors had a response for every obstacle. “HER brought something to the table and was open-minded,” Mast said. Real Estate Showcase was set up a little bit differently than most agencies because it has an auction side and a traditional side merged into one. “They were open about the auction side,” Mast said, and he liked the culture of HER on the traditional side.
