MEMORANDUM FOR Commander, 75th Ranger Regiment, Fort Benning, GA 31905 SUBJECT: AR 15-6 Investigation Findings and Recommendations 1. FINDINGS: The following are the findings of this investigation into the events of Saturday 12 MAR 16 and Sunday 13 MAR 16, leading to the arrest of 1LT Paul Handelman (Platoon Leader, Bravo Company, 2d Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment) by Korean National Police (KNP). 1LT Handelman is suspected of: violating General Order #1, violating the United States Forces Korea (USFK) curfew policy, violating a direct order from his Company Commander (Co CDR) CPT Ferriter, assaulting a KNP Officer, causing property damage to a Korean National, and of being drunk and disorderly. Since our beginnings as the Office of Strategic Services in World War II, to our involvement in the recent wars of Afghanistan and Iraq, Special Forces has applied a set of principles which sets us apart from everyone else in the military. These rules have enabled us as Special Forces soldiers to operate successfully for many years. The Special Operations Forces (SOF) Imperatives help us to better understand our friends and enemies and force us to take a hard look at our strategies. In the book, The Ugly American, by William Lederer and Eugene Burdick, there are many excellent examples of characters who used the SOF Imperatives very well and others who chose to ignore them altogether.

The ability to fly all around the world without having to ever pay for a plane ticket again or the ability to be invisible and steal all of the expensive wardrobes you have always dreamt of having? This has to be one of the most difficult decisions ever. Well, when you think about it, you can activate your invisibility power and sneak your way into a plane without a flight attendant or anyone else knowing. Not because I am a woman I chose invisibility, but I do not think that there is anything else you can do with the ability of flight other than flying around all day; which I think is rather boring.

The observations of this violations occur from the lowest to the highest levels regardless of rank. Spies and secret agents played a large role in the outcome of World War II. They gathered secret information about their enemies, such as their location, what weapons they had, and how they were getting supplies. There were also double agents, or people who pretended to be spies for one country, but actually worked in favor of another country. Most of the people who became spies did so through a job that already gave them access to classified documents and other forms of possibly vital information. A Commander sustains an ethical command climate in war by establishing clear intent and purpose for their organization, accentuated through his vision. The Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ) and the Law of War are the military guidelines and penalties for soldiers to act accordingly. Distinctively, the majority of people know the difference between right and wrong. Command team (i.e. Commander and NCOs) are role models for the organization and set the example for their subordinates, which led to sustaining an ethical climate. Discipline organization exhibits high physical fitness, technical competence and successfully accomplish the mission.
In T. Coraghessan Boyle’s short story “The Hit Man”, underlying psychoanalytical themes are present that display an allusion to struggles in human life. The main themes present in this story are dysfunctional behavior, displacement, and an insecure sense of self. Readers see the main character, The Hit Man, go through his entire life struggling with insecurity and other dysfunctional behavior. During this timeline, his dysfunctional behavior represents common struggles and conflicts that occur in common day-to-day life. Relationships with his parents and classmates and also academic struggles seems to be the main contribution to the way this character is represented.
As humans, it is alarming for sudden and unthought changes to happen. In the book Secret Agent 6th Grader by Marcus Emerson, Brody Valentine, the protagonist, learns that sometimes in life, things turn upside down in a matter of seconds, anything is possible and you just need to find a way to solve it. In the beginning of the book, Brody struggles to keep going on when difficult changes happen. By the middle, Brody starts to find out that with people around him he could be influenced to do the right things. As the story was coming to an end, Brody had figured out that he should put away all the negative thoughts and keep going no matter what.
The Effective Military Leader Warrant Officer Romero, Philip T. SPC: Captain Dearth, 1st Platoon The book “Black Hearts One Platoons Descent into Madness in Iraq’s Triangle of Death” by Jim Frederick is a true story about multiple leadership failures and six United States Soldiers from 1st Platoon, Bravo Company, 1st Battalion, 502nd Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division who were convicted for their involvement in horrible crimes while deployed to Iraq. The horrific acts including rape as well as murder committed by the soldiers of 1st platoon were a direct result of poor military leadership. Bad leadership will corrupt any military unit.
