America's Broken Dream Intro: The book “Selections” by Kiera Cass. The main character America’s dream was to marry her lover Aspen but when she enters for the selections which is a competition to find the princes new wife her dream of marrying Aspen comes crashing down. Because America entered into the selections she won't be able to marry her lover. Theme “sometimes our dreams aren't always supposed to be planned for us. A piece of evidence that displays the theme fits is when Aspen tried to convince America to enter the selections. When he is convincing america she says that she doesn't love, like,or know the prince, Maxon but she loves, likes, and knows Aspen. “But I don't love him Aspen. I don't even like him I don't even know him.”(Cass 21) This shows that the theme is correct because when America states this her tone shows that she hates the prince And she wants to marry Aspen.This also is shown when she says She loves Aspen.”Stop aspen I love you,”(Cass 21) This also presents that her dream of marrying Aspen is true because from her saying that she loves him shows that she doesn't love the prince. …show more content…
