OVERALL REFLECTION AND SELF APPRAISAL At first I really don’t want to teach. I don’t really know why I took up this course. I told to myself that I need to finish what I’ve started. I need to finish my study so that I can help my parents. I don’t have any confidence in standing in front of many people. But this Practice teaching faced me in reality. “Teaching doesn’t measure how smart the mentor is; instead it is about how she will touch her students’ lives through her profession”. During the period of my practice teaching I realized so many things. One important thing that I learned was that, teachers don’t just need to teach based on the book. As a teacher we also need to teach our students the good attitude in all aspects. We need to build a good person for a better future. Based on my experience students need to feel that they were appreciated and loved by their teachers, as their second parent in school, they are looking for love and concern from their teachers. Student teaching has fanned the fire of my passion for being a teacher and been a light onto the path of how to become the best I can be. Reflecting on each experience, the successful and the not so successful, has encouraged me to continue to persevere and grow from these challenges. Not only did I discover a great deal about teaching but I also learned a great deal about myself. I was able to surpass all the challenges that I have faced. I touch the lives of my students and to be part of them even in a very little way. It was a reward for a teacher to be recognized and appreciated by their students. I also realized that being a teacher you must be dedicated all the time, you will experience sleepless night, so much stress and you will lessen your fun time with other things.
