Seven Fallen Feathers In Seven Fallen Feathers by Tanja Talaga the Indigenous people of Thunder Bay face large amounts of injustices such as the systemic racism, neglect, and abuse from the police and government, while also receiving it from others in the Thunder Bay community. The racism they face causes major issues for the Indigenous people, impacting their education, standard of living, and employment. In Seven Fallen Feathers, the novel follows seven stories of missing and murdered Indigenous kids including Jordan Wabasse, Paul Panacheese, Robyn Harper, Reggie Bushie, Klye Morriseau, Jethro Bay, and Curran Strang. In this novel you learn about the systemic racism from the police and the way they choose to investigate the missing and murdered kids, while we also see the lack of education and support given to these young kids from the government and the lack of attention given to them and the lack of news that is told about these seven kids. The first character we meet is a young boy named Jordan Wabasse. Jordan is a 15 year old boy who is described as a quiet, polite kid who played hockey. Jordan is an example of the lack of care shown by the police in the Thunder Bay area. Jordan goes missing February 7, 2011, he is later found dead by a river near Thunder Bay on May 10, 2011, it takes the police 3 months to find and notify the public of jordans death. Thunder Bay police call his death an accident due to cold water drowning. Jordan's death is the first we learn about, and with his death. We see how the police choose to neglect the necessary needs to provide support to the Indigenous people of Thunder Bay, but he will not be the last. Another kid we learnt about is Jefhro Anderson, Jefhro was a 15 year old boy who went to Dinss Franklin High School in Thunder Bay.
