December 14, 2015 Internet Decision Makings Although sexting appears to be a part of normal teen sexual development, it can also cause harm for boys as well as girls. Sexual message involving girl-especially when widely circulated-can undermine girls’ confidence, damage their reputations and also lead to emotional and self-image problems (Willard). It is very important in this age of sexualization and technology that young people gain insight into the entire ramification involved with the issue of sexting (Willard). The term sexting is a combination of two terms that are called text and sex. Those terms is being applied to situation to self-created nude or semi-nude sexually provocative images or sexually explicit text messages. Most of the focus has been on sending nude images-because these are far more likely to be more widely disseminated and because of the distribution of these images can place young at high risk (Willard).
