Sexually Transmitted Disease (STD) is a disease transferable in terms of sexual contact. It is also transferrable in terms of saliva transfer or kiss. It was said that this disease originated form a man that had a sex contact with a monkey. And later on this disease was spread out all over the world rapidly. (Ryan, 1996)
The most common kind of sexually transmitted disease is HIV or Human Immune Virus. This virus makes the body of his victim weak and it lowers the immune system of the person infected. This kind of sexually transferred disease is deadly it is because as the immune system of the person infected of this disease decrease he/she is more prone to diseases. In Finland, from 1946-1949, Putkonen found that seafarers comprised 10.5% of the total male population with gonorrhea. In a research that we conducted it was said that seafarers appear less likely than other occupational groups to voluntarily receive HIV testing, and more likely to engage in high-risk behaviors. In one survey, 53% of participants reported contact with commercial sex workers and 73% reported that they never used condoms.
