From the practical point of view actors, portraying Macbeth and Lady Macbeth, need time to change their outfits and wash their hands so they do not draw attention to themselves. Shakespeare ensures space and time in the play for the actors to prepare themselves for their upcoming appearance with that Porter scene. Therefore, that part should not be regarded as an interpolation by an unknown writer or writers but should be accepted as an essential part of the play added by Shakespeare himself. Other interpolations were presumed by those who closely read and analysed the play, but as time passed on many were recognized as Shakespeare’s work as the style of writing resembled to his. Now-a-days are only two interpolations pointed out by experts.
