The movie “Shane” is an old western style movie made in the year 1953. It has multiple important characters to it, but it is clear from the beginning that the main protagonist is the character of Shane. It starts off at the Starrett family farm, where you see Bob and Marian doing work, while their young son Joey is playing around the house. Off in the distance you see a lone man on horseback approaching the farm, this is Shane. Joey yells to his mother and father that some is approaching, and the family comes together to see who it is. When the lone rider gets to the farm he introduces himself as Shane. At first you can clearly tell that Bob is a little timid of Shane, as he is a stranger who just arrived at his home. After a little time of getting to know each other though, and Shane helping Bob remove a stump he has been struggling with for years, Bob offers Shane a job as a farm hand. Shane thinks about it for a minute, and accepts the job. Shortly into Shanes stay with the Starrett family though, he learns of a group of men who like to cause problems for the settlers of the Valley. The leader of which is known as Fletcher. He is the main antagonist of the entire story. Constantly trying to make deals with, or forcefully drive the settlers out of the valley and out of their homes. He rides onto the Starrett family farm on a horse, dressed in what appears to be pretty nice clothing that is all lighter colored. You can also tell that Shane has some kind of experience with gunfighting. We do not know how much, but it is pretty obvious from the beginning he is no slouch with a firearm. He is a very stand up, courageous guy. You can tell he plays the role of a very generic good guy that you would expect to see in an old timey
