The Reivers
The inspirational story that The Reivers describes is one that represents the progression of a young boy understanding the dark realities that life truly has to offer. These significant realities are based around racism, jealousy, corruption, betrayal, sexism, and theft that revolved around the 1900’s are the common difficulties that a person living in America would have to go through. Also, the story was one that proved to show great familiarity between the characters and understand the story’s true goal on symbolism.
The story follows a young boy by the age of eleven whose name is Lucius Priest and his family’s retainer, Boon Hogganbeck. There’s also the family’s black member who is hired help and goes by the name of Ned McCaslin. Following these characters, the

The trio also meet Corrie who is a prostitute and Boon’s girlfriend as well as Butch who is part of the police force. Then, Lucius decides to race the horse but ends up not being able to race in the second or third round and are taken into custody over suspicion from Butch. At the same time as this is happening, Butch is cornering Corrie into a sexual situation which she wants involvement. Later, Lucius and Ned decide to try and win the difficult race and actually end up succeeding. This leads to their celebration which ends up having Lucius see his grandfather waiting for him at the gate waiting for an explanation on what had transpired with the horse racing.
The story ends with Ned explaining about his relative named Bobo and how his life was in trouble and needed help which lead to Ned stealing a horse and racing it while using his family’s all time secret. After explaining the entire story to Lucius and the others, Ned decides to tell everyone his secret which is to feed the horse
