The setting is that of classic cowboy novels. Homesteading, cattle driving, rural America in the state of Wisconsin. The land of Stetson hats and horses, revolvers and farms. This setting definitely enhanced the plot because it made clear the era that the story was taking place. It also showed the problems of the homesteaders better than any other setting.
