The plan for the Shared Reading was to present a Native American legend to my students. I chose this because I wanted to expose my students to a new group of stories and was accessible to all my students. This story was accessible because it was a legend. The fact that is was a legend allowed my students to open their minds to the ideas and characters in the legend. My students read this story, I wanted them to notice the creativity used to communicate complicated concepts. One of the literary ideas I wanted my students to notice was foreshadowing.
