There are many questions and arguments to whether or not a juvenile should be sentenced to life in prison for murder, or not. In my opinion, I do not believe that juveniles should be sentenced to life when murder is committed. Many argue that an adolescent 's brain is not fully developed at this time in their life. I do agree to this statement, to a certain extent. Most juveniles are fully capable of knowing the difference between right and wrong, but I do believe something throughout their adolescence, something traumatic had to have happened to trigger the individual to commit such an action. I very much do believe they way the individual is raised is what causes this trigger. I agree, I do think the state should be responsible for the rehabilitation of the juvenile. The state in responsible for putting any individual who is convicted for murder into prison, therefore the state should be responsible for putting adolescents who commit murder in rehabilitation treatment centers. The purpose of rehabilitation, is to rehabilitate, or to restore one’s health to normal life by training and therapy. What is the good in putting an adolescent who has committed a crime like murder in prison for life? That individual would be permanently be traumatized, and would never get the chance to receive the treatment he/she needs. More than anything, an adolescent individual need to help and to be evaluated thoroughly after committing a crime. There murder was obviously much deeper than just an impulse, there must have been something to trigger such a build up of hatred.
