Why are teenagers treated like adults when it comes to sentencing them to life in prison when they commit crimes
but are not treated like adults when they want to vote,consume alcohol,buy tobacco,rent vehicles,leave a guardian’s care
or even join the military? Teens as young as thirteen years old have been tried as adults and sentenced to die in prison,
usually without considering their age or circumstances of the offense.Some young teens cannot manage the emotional,
social, and psychological challenges of being a teenager which leads them to committing crimes because they believe they
don’t have another choice.Rehabilitation is the answer to these young teens. Therefore, I believe Juveniles shouldn’t be
treated like adults and be sentenced

She also states “lower the voting rights to age fourteen” which supports her and my argument.The Supreme Court has to take a look
at and reconsider what they are doing to our society by treating juveniles as adults.
The fact that teens are immature is another reason why they cannot be treated as adults and this should be
another reconsideration for the Supreme Court. In an article “Startling Finds On Teenage Brains”by Paul Thompson
published May 25,2001 discusses how teenagers are immature.Thompson says “actions ,emotions are immature
throughout teen years “.Teenagers automatically think different from adults how can they be treated as if they were.In
another article “JuvenilesDon’t Deserve Life Sentences “published March 14,2012 by Gail Garinger he examines how “young
people are biologically different from adults”showing evidence that a teenagers brain is different from an adults and they
can’t always control
