Teenagers love money. However, the problem with earning money is that kids are too busy to get a job. Or a job is not enough money for their needs, especially in this changing economy. Jeffrey Selingo, in his piece “Why More Teenagers and College Students Need to Work While in School,” argues that more kids should work while pursuing their education. He expresses the importance of finding time for a job, and that making money is not the only thing teenagers gain from a job.
In the articles “Making Allowance Count: Tips for Raising Children Who aren’t Spoiled,” by Richard Rende and “Why ‘Bribing’ Your Child with Treats doesn’t Work,” by Suzanne Gelb, both doctors explore the “coin reward system.” Each article is different from each other, though. Gelb discusses about not bribing a child with treats for getting chores done. Whereas Rende argues that giving an allowance to a child that does chores is detrimental to a child’s progression.
For years kids under the age of 14 and 15 there is absolutely no scientific research to prove that homework is benefiting children. Students should not be assigned homework because it causes stress and along with that come other health issues and it is not worth it, and the results promised are not showing up in any studies on homework. Homework has been tested in many different ways by a ton different people and hasn’t shown any results. People around the country are complaining about homework.
Parents should want their kids to be accountable by kids getting their homework done. They shouldn’t have to be paid to get homework done, turned in on time, and done correctly. It should bug you if you don’t have something turned in or if you got a bad grade. Some people say that students will be smarter if they know they are getting paid. That may be true, but students should want to be smarter without getting paid.
Should Minimum Wage be Raised or Lowered? In the past years there’s been a massive debate over the issue of increasing or decreasing minimum wage to workers in the United States. Minimum wage was first created in 1938 to help the living of lower class citizens in America. The law was formed to assure the citizens could afford necessities and basic living cost.
Did you know that paying students for having good grades resulted in a decrease in dropout rates, gangs, alcohol, and drug use? Students should get paid for having excellent grades. The reason why this is important is because it could lead to a brighter future for society. Three reasons why students should get paid for having awesome grades is because cash for good grades provide students with career-like rewards, it decreases dropout rates, and with the right incentive,could lead to success. The reasons Minimum wage shouldn’t be raised outweigh the reasons it should.
Not only will increasing the minimum wage make it pricier for businesses to hire young, inexperienced workers, but it is also not stated in the constitution to allow such a thing for the government to handle. Boosting the minimum wage will not alleviate poverty, and there are plenty of alternatives to decrease the poverty rate. Also, by leaving the amount the minimum wage should be to the government and no the people. America is losing its freedom and changing its economic system. By increasing minimum wage, America would be hurting its people, not helping them.
Equal pay is something women have fought over for a long time, but still haven’t got it. Just because women have only a little less experience as they have to take care of children doesn’t mean they shouldn’t get the same salary. Equal pay is favorable since it boosts the economy, makes the company look better, and helps everyone. Why would equal pay boost the economy, though? Foremost of all, women spend a sizable portion of their income, which leads to higher demand.
Homework is like a boat with a hole in its side if there is a leak in the boat then the boat is useless. The water will rush in and fill the boat with cold, dark water. The same goes for homework, it is useless. All the nights kids spend with hours and hours of homework, all the tears and stress are not helping kids in school. Should kids be paid for chores? Do you get paid for your job, then why shouldn’t kids too? Your kids or future kids should be paid for their job.
