When school became a significant part of today’s modernized society, people with higher education began to question whether students should graduate from high school, or they should be able to drop out before then and still be considered acceptable with no huge impact on their future. Despite what others will say, minors should be allowed to leave school even without a high school diploma. Not being in school opens up an option for students to work and gain more income for reasons such as supporting their family, who might be in desperate need for money. In “Source 1: Letter” by Marissa, she states, “Rather than spend the day getting to school and back and feeling helpless, I decided to step up and look for a job to really help out at home.” This demonstrates that certain students are facing financial issues and in order to provide support to their struggling parents, their only choice is having to leave school early than most. Thus, restricting those scholars to what is an utmost important by making them stay in school for over the age of 18 will become a hinderance to their daily lives outside of class. It is true that those with more developed education have better paying jobs, however, it does not indicate that graduating from school will promise a satisfactory life with a stable career. With the amount of competition and the ever growing population, it is extremely difficult to find a suitable job and get hired. Although it is seldom mentioned, the heavy loans from the colleges and universities are not that easily lifted. If a student finishes his or her studies and is having troubles acquiring a profession, not only are they jobless, they have a loan waiting to pay off.
