SHOULD THE GOVERNMENT PASS LAWS RESTRICTING CHILDREN’S ACCESS TO VIOLENT VIDEO GAMES?
Although violent video games don’t seem that bad… The government should pass laws restricting children’s access to violent video games. Teens say that a certain video game for example, Grand Theft Auto inspired people to start a school shooting or steal a car. The American Psychiatric Association wrote that, "Children who see a lot of violence are more likely to view violence as an effective way of settling conflicts. Children exposed to violence are more likely to assume that acts of violence are acceptable behavior.”
Minors aren’t mature enough to be exposed to this kind of content. Brown v. Entertainment Merchants Association made a law in California to prohibit minors from accessing violent video games because minors were buying these types of games without adult supervision and these types of games led to frustration and caused people to let their anger out on other people. My opinion on this is that parents need to be more aware of what games their children are playing. The Pew Research Center reported in 2008 that, “97% of youths ages 12 to 17 played some type of video game, and that 2/3s of them played action and adventure games that tend to contain violent content.” The only problem holding the court …show more content…

Violent video games tend to control children and transform them into a criminal. C.
