If I were to meet one person in history it would be Siddhartha Guatama. Historians believe he was born sometime between 560BC - 400BC. Guatama was born into royalty and after growing tired of the confining walls he decided to go out and discover the world. Unfortunately, all he ended up finding was war and cruelty so he made it his life mission to try and find happiness. He practiced every religion he came across but was left disappointed every time. Guatama decided to meditate for a long time, and once he realized he had reached enlightenment he wrote down the steps he took to get there and started spreading what he learned with the world. This was the birth of Buddhism. I would like to meet Siddhartha Guatama so I can understand why he felt the need to find such happiness, why he could not find happiness elsewhere, and how he found the motivation to continue such a difficult task. …show more content…
He explored every corner of the world he could reach, doing what was taught to him and constantly hoping for something to come of it but always ending up empty handed. Even the purest of souls can give into greed. But Guatama’s sole purpose was trying to find out what could not be gifted to him and how he could show it to others. He seemed to have everything after being born, but soon realized he could never be given what he wanted most: happiness. Next, I would want to meet Guatama to ask why he could never find true enlightenment within other religions. At that point in time there had been endless amounts of people searching for the same thing he was, but they all seemed to find it within other religions. I would like to ask him if he thinks they adapted. The chances of one agreeing with everything in their religion is slim, so do they overlook these things or learn to accept them? Maybe that is what Guatama never wanted to
