Everything that Charlotte Brontë added to her novel had a meaning, it was not added just to increase the novel’s page count, the names that she chose for the places that Jane moved to in order to find herself such as Gateshead, were chosen for a reason, each place had a significant meaning once analyzed. In addition, each character was chosen carefully, the characters in a way were foreshadowing what was going to happen next to Jane in her journey to find happiness, love, family and home. There was no much description of nature in Gateshead; Jane a person adores nature, which will be more obvious as Jane gain more self-confidence throughout her journey. Because there is very little and dark description of nature, this revels that people or character in this place were evil and dark. Next, the novel’s setting changed to Lowood as Jane was send by the Reeds, to study at Lowood school and to live there. The school was established for poor and orphan girls, she was a burden to the Reeds and they got rid of her. The word “Lowood” refer to another “low” point in Jane’s life, Jane did not found comfort in Lowood as life was full of suffers. The school was not a good school, the people who were in charge of school, were in power which was used negatively, such as Mr. Brocklehurst, he mistreated the orphan girls including Jane, by not provided enough amount of food or cloth to protect them from the cold since the girls room were very cold. The nature in Lowood starts being cold and isolated place, but this description decreases and time passes. After Gateshead and Lowood, Jane’s personality changed, positively, these two cities made Jane stronger and they made her stand on her feet. In the end of her journey in Lowood, she realized that she will not survived the harsh life if she will counite to be as she is, or to be as Helen, which died due to her weak personality, she was not stand up for herself. The second part of the word, field refers to a wide space, where Jane can find and discover herself in as a woman, that grows and flourish. Jane’s life in Thornfield Hall was significant, which is clear because there are nearly 16 chapters talks about her journey in Thornfield “It will be stage for intensified action and passion” (143, Edgar), it was foreshadowed in Lowood, when she applied for governess job, that Thornfield will be an important stage in her
