Brutus is one of the most famous characters in William Shakespeare, Julius Caesar, and history. He is also compared to the biblical Judas. He and Judas went down in history as traders to whom they were loyal. Some say he is a hero for killing a friend for someone else, others say he was a trader and deserves retribution for his actions. But with him all his ambitions after Caesar's death grew; you could say he's more of a villain than a hero. Brutus was compared to Judas; It is fascinating to know that they share similar origins. They hurt the people they loved and then committed suicide. In Brutus' version, he only killed Caesar because he didn't want him to gain more power than he already had. But here are the reasons why people have viewed him as a hero. There are parts he’s been portrayed to be a hero, in the interaction with Cassius he seems to not be able to go against Caesar, claiming the love that he has for him. But it is said that he is not just any hero, but a tragic hero, meaning that he is not innocent of his deeds, but a brave and noble person. For example, the night right after Caesar’s death he started to question and worry about the actions that would take place the next day. This quote explains his reasoning, “I know no personal cause to spurn at him, but for the general”(Shakespeare 2:1). He cannot conclude that he must kill Caesar but later concludes that it is for Rome's best. In real life, Caesar was a dictator himself, so the emotion and thought that Shakespeare put under Brutus must have been the actual emotions he experienced that day. The other thing that has to make people believe he's a brave man is that he conquered death instead of being a terrible Roman. "I had rather be a dog than such a Roman"(Shakespeare 4:3). It shows that he is a loyal Roman citizen and loyalty is in his eyes and the actions he took that day have no effect on him and he would do it again if it were for the good of
