From a young age I was always curious about the world. It contains various cultures and subcultures; religion is a main part of society. I grew up in a religious family, witnessing several religions. Non- Denominational Christianity and the Catholic religion from the outside may seem similar, but they are diverse. Their religious practices, holiday traditions, and confession of sins are undoubtedly distinct.
Christianity has its share of religious practices such as worshiping Jesus solely. Praying first hand to God, because he welcomes everyone with open arms. Christians believe fellowship with Christ is vital, when they make the decision to give their life to Christ. The Christian body celebrates holidays but only specific ones such as Christmas and Easter, but not so much Halloween and mardi gras. Christians support Christmas and Easter because they both celebrate the birth and resurrection of Jesus. They do this by going to church on Sunday and gathering with family to remember the reason. However, this faith believes that during Halloween the devil is glorified, and they hold the truth that they should not fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness. Halloween falls over into the demonic nature of the holiday; the various spirits cast out into the open. Many Christians also believe that Mardi Gras embodies sin and is purely unacceptable. Spirits can circulate freely and run rampant during both of these holidays causing Christians to merely ignore and not associate with these holidays. Catholicism also denounces Halloween; they believe that evil spirits are attached to the holiday. However, they celebrate Mardi Gras by doing Fat Tuesday and Ash Wednesday. Fat Tuesday is the Tuesday before Ash Wednesday and marks the beginning of Lent. This day allows them to consume foods and indulge in behaviors that they will not do during Lent. Lent is a period when Catholics recall the foundation of their faith preparing them for Easter, through remembrance and repentance.
