The discussion on Christianity, Islam, and Secular Intellectualism was very enlightening. To put it mildly, I gained a new perspective from which to view Islam as well as the negative and self-defeating fruitage of Secularism. It is my belief that Christianity is the cornerstone of civilization. Without our Creator, there would be no society; neither would there be a need for advancement in civilization. God, our Creator designed us to need Him. He himself is the One upon which everything else depends and exists. When civilization reaches a point or a crossroads in its wisdom and understanding and we lose sight of what to believe, we either create a new way of being or we follow someone else who chooses a new way to fill that void. An example of this would be the founding of Islam and the beliefs of the Koran. Mohammed had a vision of what “he” believed to be an angel directing him to “worship Allah, the only true God”, so he did and many other followed him and continue to follow the laws and teachings of the Koran today. …show more content…

In other words, the Law was to prove to us that we needed something greater. Even when the laws were written out in detail, mankind could not be faithful to God, demonstrating that we are not equipped to successfully develop and grow as a society without guidance from God. However, mankind saw that we could not be faithful so instead of looking to the promise of the One who was and is coming to save us all, we decided to rely on ourselves which eventually gave birth to what we know today as Secular Intellectualism. Society now believes that God is tolerant of all choices, behaviors, and opinions. Whatever man/woman (not God) deems appropriate and acceptable, should be viewed as, appropriate and acceptable by all, further illustrating that civilization and its advancements are hinged upon the preconceived ideas of
