"Faber sniffed the book "Do you know that books smell like nutmeg or some spice from a foreign land? I loved to smell them when I was a boy."(Bradbury 82) This quote explains that Montag and Faber both do things that society considers to be worthless but are especially important to feel relaxed and give them time to think about important things. While Faber smells the books that smell like nutmeg Montag looked up into the rainy sky and opened his mouth to taste wine. In this quote Montag is trying to explain to Faber his plan but he just will not listen. "Montag leaned forward. "this afternoon I thought that if it turned out that books were worthwhile, we might get a press and print some extra copies-" "We?" "You and I." "Oh, no!" Faber sat up. "But let me tell you my plan-" "If you insist on telling me, I must ask you to leave." "But aren't you interested?" "Not if you start talking the sort of talk that might get me burnt for my trouble."(Bradbury 85) This quote explains that while both Faber and Montag care about books they will go to different lengths to help society read books again.
