Edgar Allen Poe and Nathaniel Hawthorne were two very talented authors in the period of romanticism. Poe and Hawthorne share many similar qualities but they are each different in their own ways. Both of their writings are considered to be a part of dark romanticism, and they both often write about dark depressing topics.
