According to The Bedford Book of Genres “A genre is a composition’s kind, category, or sort. Genres give us a way to categorize or describe types of compositions”. (Braziller and Kleinfeld) One genre of music is country. There are two things we need to know about genres; “First, genres change according to the ways people use them” and “Second, genres are flexible”.
It is commonly known as a derivative of mostly blues and gospel and expanded the pop and rock-n-roll music through its styles. Music from this time had several crossovers between country and pop which led to the country music in today’s society to be more hip-hop. Country music from back in the days were more personal and had more meaning to them unlike nowadays country music. Country music in the 1960’s were unique to its times. There were several artists who made this possible through their albums.
Rap vs country music Rap music is better than country music, rap is not boring it has a lot of different styles. Rap has thirty-six different types of styles like Lyrical, Trill, Mumble, Trap, Funk, Hyphy, Gangsta, crunk and etc. Country only has twenty-eight different types of styles and they all sound the same. Rap and country both have two types of flows fast and slow.
They may be different different but the emotions you feel from the songs will stay the same. Music is so powerful and different kinds express themselves in different ways. Cultivated music can make you feel very deeply with all the classical instruments it uses. It is amazing how it can make you feel a certain way without having to say any words. On the other hand, vernacular can make you feel the same thing, but instead it uses words to connect, rather then just instruments.
Rock and Country are both different, but they are actually more alike than most people think they are. Some of the early rock was born from a mix of country and rhythm and blues. There are many ways in which they are similar and also many ways in which they are different. When it comes to the instruments they’re only slightly different. Rock musics tends to use electric guitar with electric bass and percussion from a drum kit in the background.
What draws us to certain music? My grandparents, for example, have always considered the music I like “noise”. But, what makes it any more or less noise than what they listen to? Everyone I know, has a wide variety in music taste; from death metal to country to pop and jazz, but what determines what we and others like and dislike?
