John Canty and King Henry VIII had a lot of similarities and differences. John Canty and King Henry have some major differences. John and Henry both had children. Henry loved his son while John disliked his son. John made his son beg for food and steal, and if Tom did not beg or steal, he did not get to eat that night. Henry loved his son so much that he would get the best tutors around. A big difference is that King Henry was paranoid and worried yet John was not afraid of anything. King Henry had lots and lots of people murdered and imprisoned for anything he heard in his court. King Henry had people killed because he was afraid he would lose his throne. He forgets he is poor and that he has a family who needs him. Once he gets pretty good at being a king, he stops caring about the right things. He saves a few people every so often, but he forgets about the hardships the poor go through. After he becomes praised for being so kind, he starts to enjoy life as prince. Too much of anything is not a good thing. This is also true for Tom, the longer he is prince, the less he cares for justice and righteousness. Throughout the story its clear see a complete flip between Tom and Edward. They start to act completely opposite of how they did in the beginning of the book. Tom even ignores his mother. 5. He becomes aware of how the lower class gets so little when as the Prince he does not know about all those things. In the palace, he receives everything he wants and he gets it when he wants it. He learns what its like to be a lower class men. When he was still in the castle, he never had to sit in jail with a stranger. When the hermit captures him, he gets to see how bad his dad was. He did not know about the monasteries or how bad his father treated people. He goes from rich to poor in an
