In the novel, "The Upstairs Room" by Johanna Reiss, conflict between the Germans and the Jews, being the Holocaust, was amplified because it had now turned into a war, also known as World War One. Reiss tells the story of a family of five Jews (Rachel, Sinni, Annie, Mom, and Dad) and the mother is sick but the Germans are slowly starting to invade so they need to find a hiding place before the Germans capture them and it's too late. All the family is split up besides two of the sisters (Annie and Sinni) and the mother dies at the beginning because of sickness but all 3 sisters survive and are free again after the war. The Holocaust was found to be the responsibility of the Germans because they initiated the conflict between the Jews,who felt obligated to do what they were told in order to save their lives, and themselves.
The Holocaust started in 1933 and lasted for about 12 years. It was a time were Europe was taken by a German dictator, Adolf Hitler, and his army. They tortured and forced millions of Jewish men, women, children, including Elie Wiesel and Anne Frank. They both encountered different lifestyles and outcomes but they also have somethings in common. Elie and Anne both went through the Holocaust with their families.
Some similarities are that Christopher Columbus and Marie Curie both died from disease. They also were both very determined to accomplish what they wanted,and wanted to make a discovery,to drive the world of knowledge forward. Both of them also discovered something. Both of them sacrificed things in order to do what they wanted. Neither of them made it to their seventies.
In the book, Theodore Boone The Fugitive, the main character 's name is Theodore. Theodore is brave, smart, courageous, and funny. His main intention during the story is to put a murderer, Pete Duffy, behind bars. Some devices used by the author are metaphors, personifications, and similes. The other book, The House of Hades, has a main character named Percy.
Night is a first hand account by Elie Wiesel that describes the horrors and torment he faces during the worst genocide in human history. It was degrading for them to be labeled and separated from all other human race. The ghettos of the holocaust were a death sentence for many Jews.

This fear began when all people and citizens had to complete a census and carry an identification card. Second, the Jews had to wear the Star of David and they were forced into ghettos. Third, they were taken to the concentration camps and the death camps.

The Holocaust was a horrific tragedy which started in January of 1933 and ended in May of 1945, the Holocaust was the mass murder of millions of people. The word was derived from the Greek word that meant Sacrifice to the Gods (Steele 7), also called the Shoan which is the Hebrew word for catastrophe (Steele 7). So many countries took place in this 12-year genocide, including, “Germany, Italy, Japan, Romania, Hungary, and Bulgaria, which were also known as the Axis Powers” (Steele 34). But, although there were all those countries they were all part of one larger group called the Nazis, were the ones who were killing all the different denominations of people. (Bachrach 58).
