The Unparalleled Heroism of Michael Jordan and Atticus Finch Michael Jordan and Atticus Finch were two iconic figures of heroism. Each has portrayed admirable morals and heroism in their roles. Micheal Jordan is widely considered to be the greatest basketball player of all time while Atticus Finch is known for being the high moral lawyer of a black man who was falsely accused in the racist town of Maycomb, Alabama. Jordan's heroism is seen in his athletic ability and philanthropy, with Atticus Finch's heroism being demonstrated through his strong moral convictions and commitment to justice. Atticus, a devoted lawyer, took on the role of defending a black man who was wrongfully accused of rape in the racist town of Maycomb, Alabama. Finch demonstrated numerous important qualities and really served as someone to look up to as a hero for his kids. Finch would always teach his kids to be respectful and show their manners. “...you just keep your head high and keep those fists down. No matter what anybody says to you, don't let ‘em get your goat.” (Lee 76). Finch's quote here shows that if there were ever a problem, he’d teach his kids how to keep good morals. They are both pushed by an inner spark that pushes them beyond their limitations, to excel and exceed their expectations. Jordan does so by signifying to many that if you work hard good things will come. Even when times were tough, such as when Jordan was cut from his high school team, “It was the big day of the year, for they had all known the list would be posted… Roy Smith's name was on it, Micheal’s was not'' (Halberstam 21). Jordan kept working hard. Compared to Finch both refused to back down from adversity, whether it was the court or courtroom both demonstrated remarkable poise in the toughest circumstances. Finch stands by and presents to the world that if someone stands up for what's right with high moral intentions and doesn't win; it will be seen by many. Even though Finch did not win the trial, Jem and Scout's growth in maturity was present. Finch taught them both what was right and also what was wrong, “It ain’t right Atticus. ‘No son, it's not right’”(Lee 242). Atticus portrayed that even with everything stacked against him he continued to fight for what was right, giving lifelong principles everyone around him could hold onto.
