The story I chose for my paper is The Navajo Origin Legend retold by the author Washington Matthews. In this story the people of the Navajo Tribe started the twelfth morning out by washing themselves very well. The men and women both dried themselves with cornmeal. The women drying with yellow, while the men dried with white. Shortly after they finished getting ready they heard a call from the gods at a distance.
There are plenty of different Native American tribes in the USA. Today I will be talking about the Navajo and the Shoshone/Shoshoni indians. I will be comparing their homes, diet, and lifestyle. Both have many similarities and differences that I will be talking about. First of all, both tribes have very different homes.
In the two stories How stories Came to Earth and Coyote Steals Fire there are many similarities between them. One of the first similarities of the two stories is the main charachters achieved their goals. The Coyote in Coyote Steals Fire had to win a game of dice in order to get the fire, he may have cheted but he got what he needed. In How Stories Came to Earth the spider got all the stories from capturing

In other worlds, both tales attempt to answer the common question of why something is the way it is. One of the main differences is the way creation occurs.
Similarities And Differences Of two trickster tales Imagine trichsters, cheated games of dice, a thunder god, stolen fire, and anthropomorphic animals. These statements are from the trickster story “Coyote steals fire”. A coyote gambles his life for fire and he cheated to win, but his uncle broke fire and all the little creatures took little pieces of fire and took them all around the world and to other tribes. “How stories came to earth” and “Coyote steals fire” have both similarities and differences.
The two stories of creation we 're very similar in both Christianity, and the Iroquois. They both had the same outline, but each of them added their own personal twists that made it their own. Their first similarity was the amount of children they had. They both had 2 kids, that we 're opposites. One of the differences about this was that one of the stories was how in one, the kids we 're dire opposites.
I could not find the story on LSC database so I used several article found on Google The Navajo creation story: The Navajo's believed that there were six being that were in the first world; (First man) the sun of the night and the blue sky over the sunset, (First Woman) The daughter of the day break and the yellow sky of sunset, Fire god, Salt Woman, Coyote and Begochiddy the first child of the sun. Begochiddy had golden hair and blue eyes. Begochiddy created all things that came into being, Amongst Begochiddy's creation were the 4 mountains, ants, insects and plants.
They both had primary people Adam and Eve and Sky women. In both stories they had sons in the Iroquois story Sky Woman has twins, one of them named Sapling who was kind and gentle similar to Jesus. Sky Women's sons began adding to the earth. Her other son was evil and destroyed all Saplings work and created everything bad.
When comparing the Southwest indians to the Eastern Woodlands indians I found there were some differences, in their homes, the indians in the Southwest had hut like homes made of stone or adobe while indians in the Eastern Woodlands had lodge like homes made from wood. Farming and hunting seemed to be big for the Eastern Woodlands, but most of the Southwest people were just gatherers and hunters when they could be, although there were some successful farmers. Both areas had hostile groups of people, but the two groups in the Southwest later became more settled and peaceful. The Eastern Woodlands and the Great Plains had a few differences, again their homes being one of them.
