Just like in “the odyssey”, Everet goes on a long journey from their imprisonment, in hopes to be free and getting home safely, little do they realize the challenges they would have to face. “The Odyssey” was so popular that there was a movie based on it. This movie was called” O Brother where art thou”.There are many similarities and differences between Homer’s epic” The Odyssey” and the Coen Brothers' film “O’Brother where art thou.” For example, similarities and differences include the sirens from “the odyssey’’ and the sirens from Brother where art thou, The cyclopes and big dan teague, and Sheriff cooley and Poseidon. 3 main similarities are comparing the sirens from the “odyssey” and the sirens from “O Brother where art thou".Equally shown in both stories, the odyssey had 3 evil girls that were sirens. To add on there were 3 sirens In “O brother where art thou” that was also shown in the film as girls. In close comparison the sirens from “The Odyssey” Could sing well; this was essentially their way of drawing in sailors and other outsiders out at sea. In the same way Sirens from” O Brother where art thou” were able to use their singing voice to draw Everet and his friends to the river. One way Big Dan Teague and polyphamus were similar was that. In The Odyssey, polyphamus is a cyclops so he naturally has one eye. big Dan Teague also has one eye and a patch over the other. Just like in The Odyssey how polyphamus ate people after seeing that Odysseus and his crew were in his dwelling, Big Dan Teague also harmed the main character and his friend. In O Brother Where Art Thou Everett and Delmar get robbed by big Dan Teague and are brutally injured. To add on, in” The Odyssey “the Cyclops is stabbed with a wooden stake in his eye. To similarly relate, In O Brother Where Art Thou big Dan Teague is hit with a plank of
