Recommended: Character analysis of Oedipus

The respect was shown by both the authors in The Odyssey and Oedipus The King. The heroes were respected by the people on the whole. In The Odyssey, it was depicted when Zeus ordered his daughter Athene to inform Odysseus ' family that Odysseus was not dead (Baldwin, 2017). However, the respect was also awarded to the Oedipus from the people of Thebes and enthrone him as king on solving the riddle of Sphinx that has captured them for years (Mastin, 2009).
Comparing the similarities, it was also analyzed that both heroes were responsible towards their duties. It was analyzed when Odysseus went for a Trojan war and on another hand, King Oedipus took concern in resolving the city 's plague by sending Creon, his brother-in-law, to the Oracle of Apollo to find the solution.
In the Greek Attic tragedy, Oedipus the King, failure of the Oedipus is subjected to his repartee of the fate. In this story, the fate has influenced the particular characters. It has already written by the gods that Oedipus and Jacosta could come to know. Their fate revolves around what has been proclaimed before they born.
Oedipus unsuccessfully tries to change his fate through his free will. The prophecy of Oracle has accustomed his destiny of murdering his father and to marry his mother. Author depicted that he has tried every way to change what has written but the decree of the fate cannot be challenged and proven wrong.
