Lots of people want to have a nice house, nice car, married with kids but not everyone can have that. The American Dream is the views on people having freedom and the opportunity for prosperity and success. In the books, Of Mice and Men by F. Scott Fitzgerald and The Great Gatsby by John Steinbeck, the characters have different dreams and inputs on the american dream because of their disposition of character. The Great Gatsby is about a man who is rich with a big mansion, a nice car, and is in love with a woman that is already married. Of Mice and Men is revolved around a man and his mentally challenged friend getting around in life and they want to stop working in the field and get their own house with animals one day. Both F. He also holds a lot of parties (Fitzgerald 41), but only throws them hoping that a girl named Daisy will come to one of them, but when she finally does, she doesn’t like it and doesn’t have a good time (Fitzgerald 113-114). He has a nice old fashioned car (Fitzgerald 64), and wears fancy shirts and clothes (Fitzgerald 84-85, 93-94). So it seemed like he had it all, the car, the house, the money, and the look, all he needed was the girl. Other than Gatsby, George and Lennie live a mediocre life but they would like to have more. In Of Mice and Me, George isn’t the wealthiest and works on a ranch (Steinbeck 6). He has to take care of his best friend Lennie since Lennie’s aunt Clara dies (Steinbeck 7). He wants to get a house with Lennie, build a fire in the stove when it gets cold and have animals such as chickens and rabbits, but they just need the money (Steinbeck 14-15).
