"Ten With a Flag" by Joseph Haine and the film V for Vendetta, directed by James McTeigue, illustrate that corruption in government leads to a necessary uprising from citizens. Life on strict watch and with little room for self development causes two outcomes from society. The first outcome is a dull, controlled society, and the other outcome is an insurgence. "Ten With a Flag" and V for Vendetta both portray the effects of a dishonest government through revolt.

In the film V for Vendetta, a character named Valerie who was a victim of the government's strict rules describes her feelings. Valerie's tone while saying her experiences that led her to Nordfire was rebellious. As Eevie is put in the same position, a letter from Valerie urges Eevie to stay strong and overcome her struggles against the government. In the letter Valerie wrote, she narrates her struggles which ultimately led to her death, however urges the reader to fight to overcome and reassures the reader (Eevie) that they are loved (McTeigue 1:17). Valerie's determination to overcome her adversary and use her love to give strength to fuel Eevies rebellion. Her spark was enough to power a whole rebellion against corruption. This rebellious attitude Valerie has, is also transferred to Eevie. Evvie protects V knowing that he is a rebel against the government, and endures torture from the government trying to get information from her. It took Evey to endure the truth of the corruption in government for her to stand up and make a change (McTeigue 1:21). This is rebellion because she is protecting the enemy.
