The Awakening and A Doll’s House share parallel thoughts and idea about independence through strong female protagonist. Edna and Nora are parallel characters in their behavior and their despite pursuit for independence. Along with Edna and Nora; several more characters are parallel to each other. Leonce Pontellier and Torvald Helmer are both work-a-holic husbands who belittles their wives and end up alone with their children
