Was Rome different or similar to the U.S? Well, Rome´s government was similar to, but their religion was different from ours completely. Also, their activities weren´t the same but not completely different. Therefore, Rome was like the U.S today because of government, and somewhat of activities. Roman government was very similar to the U.S in different ways.
America is very similar to Ancient Rome, but there are several differences. For example, the Roman Empire "fell" and America is still “standing”. Before ancient Rome “fell”, Rome started out as a small settlement of farmers on the Palatine hill. About one hundred years later, Rome became a republic. The Roman Empire started when Pax Romana or Roman peace began in 27 BCE under the rule of Augustus Caesar.
The Western Roman empire fell in 476 C.E.. The Roman Empire lasted nearly 500 years. Before the fall of the Western Empire, Constantine split the Roman Empire into two parts, west and east. He moved the government and the capital to Byzantine (later renamed Constantinople). While ancient Rome and modern day America are very different in some ways, they are similar in other ways.
We both also took in many immigrants. That is why America will fall like Rome. America much like Rome, thinks they have the best army and can defeat anyone. The U.S. is in 5 different wars right now. Rome like to expand their land.
I believe that the French, Haitian and American Revolution were similar and different in many ways. The revolutions had important leaders, George Washington, Napoleon and Toussant L’Oerture. I feel that they were socially similar because of the Enlightenment, which was a source of inspiration for change. They where also similar in political way because they all had constitutions. I fell that there was a social difference between these revolutions because Haiti was more focused on freedom for the slaves rather than independence.
Political integration between both empires had both similarities and differences, most notably being different with the ways they chose those to rule. In Imperial Rome, bureaucracy relied on local elites (landholders) and the middle-class citizens to control provinces. Imperial Rome was far less complex, compared to the bureaucracy of Han China. Many official positions within the government were bought or became hereditary through family wealth as opposed to earned by merit, due to this fact, the Roman bureaucracy often suffered from poor governance. Similarities That American Society Shares With Ancient Greece Ancient Greece produced many patterns and fashions that America has imitated. This civilization, more than any other, has molded what Americans observe and use architecturally today. Everywhere people look, they can see designs from Ancient Greece in this country. America has been inspired and influenced by the Greeks; therefore, there are replicated ideas of ancient Greece seen in many of America’s buildings. In the United States’ capital, there are buildings, especially the Capitol, which have borrowed ideas and patterns from some of Greece’s structures.
The Roman Empire and the United States of America both developed to be large and powerful civilizations in their time periods. With the Rome Empire being in power well a thousand years before the United States of America were even English colonies let alone a growing a country, you would think that the would be very different in all aspects. This is true for many aspects for the two civilizations, but a few aspects share similarities between the two. One of these aspect is the military policy that both civilizations had. The military policy that these two civilizations had impacted them in different and similar ways.
Impacts of Ancient Rome and Ancient Greece on America Most of America considers itself a “Great” nation. Whether this means powerful, intelligent, flourishing, thriving, et cetera, is unclear. In order to explore where America obtained the inspiration for its greatness, I am going to walk through the influence of the great Greek and Roman cultures and Empires (so to speak). These ancient civilizations were among the first that had governments of democracy and sophistication, of elections and thriving economies on a mass scale.
They acknowledge that there are some similarities between the two societies, but they also recognize that there are important differences. Rather than using Rome to support their own political positions, they use it as a lens through which to understand the complexities of history. It is worth noting that historical analogies are often used to support a particular political agenda or worldview. Depending on the author's perspective, the comparison between Rome and America may be used to argue for or against a particular political ideology, or to emphasize the dangers or benefits of a particular course of action. Therefore, it may be difficult to offer an entirely objective interpretation of the relationship between ancient Rome and modern America, given the inherent political nature of the topic.
Ancient Rome left tremendous legacies such as technological advancements, religious beliefs and governmental structures that shaped the world today. The Romans conquered many territories and took on their cultures as well, in particular the Ancient Greek culture. Ancient Greek civilizations played a major role in the history and development of the Ancient Rome civilization. The Ancient Greeks influenced the social structure, religion and military strength of Ancient Rome.

Rome warfare was characterized by great ferocity and the roman pursuit of victory was determined. Rome gave many good ideas; the senate was ruled by the people of Rome. The Roman Republic Government was a large complex constitution, which was secure by many checks and balances, so that no man could have complete control.
Ancient Greek and ancient Rome are often confused with one another even though there are great differences between the two. Both countries are Mediterranean but have social class differences, different mythology, different life values and different architectural concepts. It is said that much of what Rome used in everyday life was taken from the ancient Greek civilization as the ancient Greek civilization started 5th century BC. And it was not till hundreds of years later that the roman civilization started. Cities in Ancient Greece were differentiated by hills.
Romans believed in equal voting, and equal access to the government for all, which is also shown in our Democratic Government. Another way Greeks and Romans still influence out modern civilization is through art. Greek art strongly influenced Rome’s art. Greek art continues to play a key role in Literature and Art classes in our modern civilization. Greeks has highly developed literacy, which included drama, poetry, and music.
