The early Greeks indeed had a mythopoeic nature. The Greeks turned to myths to help explain their surroundings; something they were clueless about. The reading about Theseus and the Minotaur had a moral to be learned just as any other myth from the ancient times. The moral or lesson of the myth was that one should not to be fooled by something strictly due to the physical aspects.
