One of the most iconic scenes, in my opinion, is when Walter goes to the house of Mr. Dietrichson to renew his automotive insurance and he is not present, but instead he meets his wife Phyllis. I think the objective of this scene was to establish the chemistry between Walter and Phyllis as well as foreshadow the future events of the story. In this scene, Phyllis is asking what type of insure Walter works with. He says, “all kinds, fire, earthquakes, theft, public liability, group insurance, industrial stuff.” To which Phyllis asks, “accident insurance” so calmly. This foreshadows the event where Walter cons Mr. Dietrichson into signing the papers for the accident insurance unknowingly so that when he “mysteriously dies”, his wife Phyllis can
