William Golding's book Lord of the Flies, shows how evil humans are at heart. The book is about a group of British boys who crash on an island and slowly turn savage. Jack and Ralph are split into two groups and after all the conflict ends up with people dead. William Golding in his book Lord of the flies tells us that people are more evil than good. This is shown in the killing of Simon, the killing of Piggy, and the killing of the sow.
Simon was one of the only boys who actually showed moral decency on the island. While the rest of the older boys are mean to the littluns on the island, for instance they stomp on a sand castle the littluns have built. Roger even throws stones at one of the boys. Simon on the other hand actually helps the littluns. Like when he helped them pick their fruit off the trees, because they couldn't reach.
“Here the littluns who had run after he caught up with him. They talked,cried out unintelligibly, lugged him toward the trees. Then,Simon found them the fruit they could not reach, pulled off the choicest from up in the foliage, passed them back down to the endless outstretched hands. When he had satisfied them, he paused and looked round.” Simon is helping out the littluns because he knows that everyone matters in survival,and puts everyone's differences

“Simon had passed through the area of fruit trees but today the littluns had been too busy with the fire on the beach” (Golding 132). Simon often goes to his quiet place in the forest while everyone else is participating in hunting, swimming, partying, etc. He is also the least savage as well as the goodest out of all the boys.
This shows that the boys are only afraid of themselves, because they are their own worst enemy. He is the first to figure out that the beast is not an actual beast, and how it is only the boys becoming savage, and starting to be afraid of one another. Simon one of the main characters in the novel and is set as an allusion of Jesus Christ. Christ is known to have an affinity with children; in chapter 4, Simon demonstrates this act by picking fruit for the rest of the children in their group. This shows the goodness by nature. Also like Christ, Simon withdraws to his secret place in the forest as Jesus withdraws to the wilderness to pray. Simon is also able to intuitively understand the truth about fear,evil, and human nature.
There were different times where the boys become panicked, afraid and completely fearful. Although many deny, there is a “beast” within each and every one of us, even though your beast can come in different shapes and forms. Simon is very good and true to himself, and has the most positive outlook. Simon is very different from the other boys, he seems to always be helping the Littluns

Throughout the novel Simon experiences many parallels that are similar to Jesus Christ. Innocent Simon was killed by a group of boys who wrongly accused him, and innocent Jesus was killed by a group of men who also wrongly accused him. This shows how humanity is cruel and evil, even to the innocent.
Simon did not make as much difference as the other boys did, in the island; but in terms of analyzing characters, he was the only person who helped and cared for whoever needed it in the island, and he was the only boy that knew there was no real beast on the island. Readers probably would have gotten a completely different meaning of the novel, if there had been no symbolism in the
