In the novel lord of the flies the connect that humans are naturally evil and when not guided will turn aginst eachother. One way we see humans inherently evil is through the character development of jack. In the begging the was obsessed with hunting pigs but could never had the heart to kill them. “He raised his arm in the air. There came a pause, a hiatus” (Golding 31). As you can see in the quote he hesitated and couldn’t kill the pig becasue in the begging the evil in the boys hadn’t been uncovered yet. Later on he progressed to loving killing the pigs and when he got his first kill he was ecstatic “Jack held up the head and jammed the soft throat down on the pointed end of the stick … a little blood dribbling down the stick” (Golding 136-137). When simmon was alive he was loved by everyone and caused no problems only wanted to help everyone. “Simon found for them fruit they could not reach... passed them back down to the endless, outstretched hands” (Golding 56). This shows how simon was always willing to help ans was always loving. As simon started to disappear in the chapters the boys became inherently more evil. “What I mean is … maybe it’s only us” (Golding 89). Simon is explaining how he thinks that the boys are becoming more eivil no whats around them and at this part of the book simon started to disappear more. Showing simon was holding them toghter. When they killed simon they weren’t even phased showing they didn’t care anymore and are becoming more evil. “Comming in the dark-he had no bissness crawling like that out of thr dark. He was batty.he asked for it”(Golding 157). When they killed simon they didn’t even care. Saying it was his foult over something that was clearly there fault. This proves that they were becoming more evil as there guidence started to slip
