The purpose of this review is to summarize the current literature related to the potential for simultaneous occupational therapy (OT) interventions to decrease side effects of dialysis. Dialysis is a complex treatment option for individuals experiencing chronic kidney disease (CKD). Although dialysis helps to sustain life, those receiving treatment can potentially experience life-long physical, psychological, and social problems resulting from the side effects of dialysis (Chau et al., 2003).
